Accessibility Statement
ParaPride celebrates the LGBTQ+ disabled community. We make events, workshops and research accessible to everyone, so that every LGBTQ+ disabled person can feel pride in who they are.
We are dedicated to working with venues demonstrating a commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Whilst understanding there is no such thing as fully accessible and there is never a one size fits all, we strive to ensure our values shine through in every event.
On this page, we will outline how we ensure accessibility and inclusion throughout our events. For access information for specific events, (including directions, transportation, venue), please click here to visit our Events page.

Website
Digital accessibility is not just a target we aim to achieve, but an ongoing commitment that we carry in every aspect of our digital service delivery. We recognize that this requires continuous monitoring, improvement, and adaptation. In the sections below, we elaborate on the various efforts that have been undertaken to address our progress in ensuring digital accessibility for all.

A key element of our accessibility initiative is our engagement with a third-party accessibility consulting organization UserWay. We use industry standard accessibility methods and tools to accomplish this, in accordance with the relevant version of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) the internet’s main international standards-setting organization.

parapride.org makes available the UserWay Website Accessibility Widget that is powered by a dedicated accessibility server.

The Widget offers user-triggered enhancements that allow visitors to improve the accessibility of the site. These features will, when selected, increase font size, pause animations, change color contrast, and more. People can choose combinations that suit their needs, as per WCAG Level AAA.

The site has enabled Automated Remediation Technology (ART) for all visitors, whether they use assistive technology or not. ART does not detect Assistive Technology usage; rather, it improves accessibility for all site visitors regardless of ability by deploying remediation capabilities such as (not a complete list):
-
Images and other non-text elements have alternative text associated with them when required;
-
Keyboard navigation is improved with aids such as focus indication and skip links;

The majority of the content of the ParaPride website has also been translated into BSL. These videos are displayed as a pop-up style notification when they are available. We endeavour to continue to increase the amount of translated content as we further develop our site.

ParaPride celebrates the identities of the people within our community. We strive to ensure that this is reflected in the language that we use. To that end, we have created an inclusive language glossary. To view this glossary, click here
