ParaPride is an empowerment charity that advocates for our LGBTQ+ disabled community and their allies. We do this through events, workshops and research. At ParaPride, we believe that every LGBTQ+ disabled person has the right to feel safe, welcome and included.

Pride in Everybody
Our mission
is to address the lack of inclusion for disabled people within the LGBTQ+ community; to provide more accessible LGBTQ+ spaces; and to promote celebration of our different bodies.
Our challenge
is to correct the misrepresentation of disabled people as a vulnerable community in need of special care. We are much more than that and do not want to be defined by our disabilities. We are only disabled by the barriers presented by society.

A massive congratulations and thank you to @twistinbushytail who completed a fundraiser in celebration of Disability Pride month for July.
He started with a goal to swim 775 pool laps for the month and asked friends and family to donate money to ParaPride with a pledge to swim additional laps for every £ donated.
He swam 2350 laps (70.5km) during month and in the process raised a whopping £1260 in donations.
At the peak of challenge he managed to swim 10km in a single day, which is the same distance of a swimming marathon.

This time last week we joined international law firm Slaughter and May to speak on a panel alongside some of their employee network members. We shared a great discussion on importance of recognising intersectionality in workplaces.

Roxy is a pansexual person living with Multiple Sclerosis, and a passionate advocate for disability rights and sex positivity. She founded The Sick and Sickening Podcast to share unfiltered stories about living with illness.
With a background as a stylist, Roxy uses fashion as activism, advocating for visibility for ethnically diverse and LGBTQIA+ communities. She campaigns for inclusion and equity, highlighting the lack of diversity in the medical, charity, and corporate sectors.

Parallel Windsor Games is Festival of Inclusivity that takes place in the iconic Windsor Great Park on Sunday 7th July.
The whole Festival is created to showcase disability empowerment, therefore it's fully accessible.
Charity fundraising is a big part of the festival. ParaPride will be fundraising for our Community Projects 2024/25 - notably for our annual LGBTQ+ History Event.
We will cover your entry tickets and joining fees.
Each ParaPride team member will receive a ParaPride t-shirt, a packed lunch, refreshments and snacks for the day. Everybody who joins gets a Parallel medal and t-shirt.
It will be a fun community experience where we can be together, feel empowered and be visible.
Challenges: choose Walk, Run or Push. A are a range of fully accessible challenges suitable for everyone, welcoming all ages, abilities and health conditions.
Distances: these range from 100 metres, 1KM, Supersensory 1KM, 5KM, 10KM. No cut off times.
Everybody can complete the distances in their own time and style.
Spaces are Limited.

Passionate about disability rights, Asifa lives with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a rare genetic eye disease which causes progressive sight loss.

It is a well understood issue that the LGBTQ+ community experiences a disproportionately high rate of mental health issues associated with body image. In the UK, an LGB adult is twice as likely than a straight cis-gendered adult to feel shame because of their body image. It is very common for trans people to experience distress due to the incongruity between their biological sex and gender identity throughout all stages of their transitional journeys.
Similarly, disabled people can have a complicated relationship with their own bodies and a staggering 50% of UK adults with a disability said their body image negatively affected their self-esteem, compared to 35% among non-disabled people.
In our celebration of LGBTQ+ disabled people we promote awareness of the need for this to change, by advocating for better representation of all types of bodies and encouraging our community to realise the beauty in their own. We have pride in everyONE and in everyBODY.

Happy Pansexual and Panromantic Awareness and Visibility Day
To be pansexual is to have a sexual or romantic attraction to individuals with no consideration for their gender identity, and panromantic is simualar but without sexual attraction.
Pansexuality is very often confused with bisexuality but is a distinct sexuality distinguishable by emphasis on 'gender-blindness' and inclusive of non-binary identities.
